This five bedroom art deco house of signature cylindrical towers and three encased feature palm trees emerging through the roof also has a self-contained studio flat. The design of the house incorporates three mature palm trees encased in glass serving at fulcrum features dividing the main ground floor rooms. On the outside double garage driveway bamboo and pansy planting against deep plum colourwash is complimented by small opaque glass block tiling reminiscent of 1970s fashionable design. Curves are the design cues here in contrast to modernisms sleek linearity. As one enters the residence, one is struck by the warm tones of ochre wash walls and warm beige subtle big cat paw print carpeting. Entering through the garage you come the central glass palm tree casement dividing the full specification kitchen from the bar and games room. A Defy double oven, electric hobs and full height fridge freezer provide comprehensive catering options. The wooden crescent bar has a semi-circular bench seating nook and features a chilled drinks cabinet; an ideal informal entertainment venue with guest bathroom. The garden consists of a manicured lawn bordered by flower beds of attractively planted pansies and rosebush above a pool deck (with jacuzzi) that enjoys views across to Robben Island. To one side is a vegetable garden with utility shed. On the other side of the central tree case is a television lounge of a Sony home-cinema screen with dark brown leather sofa L shaped suite and dark stained cabinets. Evident here and in the games room are sports stars memorabilia glass cases including a signed Mohammed Ali boxing glove, Michael Schumacher Ferrari driver and Gary Player golf caps. The large main living room has a ten seater formal dining table with light beige upholstery L shaped suite and a further twelve seater dining table on the adjoining terrace. A large gilt-framed mirror reflects back into the garden here near an adjoining semi-circular office. A few steps up from here takes you to a striking black and white streaked tile guest bathroom before you climb past a curving banister rail to the first floor and bedrooms. There is a passageway off to one side here leading to the self-contained (lockable) flatlet with kitchenette and double en suite bedroom and a further guest bedroom. There is a computer here and otherwise wi-fi connectivity throughout. The view back of the house from the garden and pool deck of Lions Head is impressive. There is a second guest flatlet accessible suitable for occasional use through the double garage, otherwise reached by a separate entrance on the driveway. |
