6 Orange Road Hout Bay A charming and warm yet controversially beautiful house, situated in a peaceful quiet road high up above its natural surroundings, is a combination of natural raw beauty and contemporary modern comfort with a mix of textures, African collectables, intriguing artwork and delightful finds from all around the world. Neutral colours have been used for furniture, walls, floors and timeless accessories with rich yet subtle tones throughout the home seamlessly combining the past with the present. The local village, only a five minute walk from the house, has a wonderful sense of community with unique shops and sea facing restaurants, the beach, beautiful horse riding trails and also a popular Sunday craft market. The Constantia wine route, Llandudno and Camps Bay beaches are just a ten minute drive away or spend a day shopping at the Waterfront, try Table Mountains cableway and then choose a perfect spot to watch the sun go down. The tiled foyer entrance with its tranquil views of The Sentinal and Hout Bay harbour to the right, the jagged textures of Chapmans Peak to the left and Hout Bay beach directly ahead radiates an open, free and relaxed atmosphere with large wooden doors that open on to a raised terrace outside. The homes interior has a rustic, warm and cosy ambience with all furniture fitting into the rustic theme, earth colours used for sofas and décor and collective artworks adding a splash of colour. Down the curved steps, the living room where all items have been chosen with a strong sense of texture includes a curved wooden antique coffee table, an antique liquor cabinet and server, two graceful antique wooden chairs, a dark brown leather and a red suede sofa, a stylish rug, canvas art and a plasma television screen fitted into the wall. Wooden doors opening on to a paved terrace provide a kaleidoscope of light, access to the best possible views and an area big enough for sundowner sessions with friends. All three bedrooms are en suite, bedroom one is to the left of the living room, bedroom two to the right of the foyer and bedroom three is upstairs. Each has a queen size bed, the central piece around which the rest of the bedroom is built, with a dark wood headboard, beautiful bed linen, fitted textured carpets, a wooden treasure trunk seat, a television, large paintings, elegant tiny spotlights, valuable decorative pieces for a more personalised look and wooden doors to the outside with spectacular uninterrupted views. Bedroom one has two tasteful wooden cabinets, a smart walk in closet area with fitted wood and frosted glass wardrobes and windows overlooking the front entrance water feature that provides an element of karma and pizzazz to this house. Bedrooms two and three have matching wardrobes to bedroom one and the third bedroom has a charming wooden and solid brass desk at its entrance with a curved black leather chair and curved wooden wall shelves beneath a large window facing the sea, a slanted ceiling with windows along the top and wooden wall shelves. All bathrooms are fitted with exquisite sanitary and bathroom ware suitable for luxurious comfort and relaxation. Bathroom ones modern tiles and ornate wall mirror combine seamlessly with the classic oval bathtub and bowled basin, bathroom two, decorated in light greys has a double glass door shower with a seat, an engaging free standing basin and a rectangular shaped bath, bathroom three, decorated in earth colours, is elevated behind a mid height wall with two contemporary style top mounted rectangular basins, a frosted glass shower and an oval bathtub. Each bathroom has cupboards matching the bedroom wardrobes and windows providing soft light. There is a guest loo to the left of the living room downstairs. The staircase leads up to a vibrant wooden floor living area with a fully equipped, functional and easily accessible, clutter free kitchen encouraging interaction between its adjoining rooms and the outside terrace area giving the option of entertaining in an open plan fashion. The dark wood cabinetry blends in well with the style of the furniture upstairs, while the glass, granite and aluminium have a more contemporary feel. Clever drawers are used for storage space and a centre island with black leather chairs for informal meals. The dining area has a beautiful dark wood table and eight tall, naturally graceful ornate chairs, an old wooden desk with a wine holder and canvas oil paintings adding drama to the walls. Vast window and door space provides light and air on Summer evenings. The secluded and lush outdoor area makes this home a gem in the Summertime with a wooden deck framed rectangular shaped swimming pool and wooden loungers matching the balcony, garden and barbeque area for outdoor dining under the trees with a stone table and benches.
