64 de Wet Road Bantry Bay Tasteful Tranquillity A modern Atlantic facing villa set between the sea and the mountain in Bantry Bay overlooks Lions Head, Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Robben Island sticking out above the sea and the Table Bay harbour. This beautiful setting captures Cape Town as it is as you look out over the ocean, boats bobbing about with glass as the only buffer between you and the sea. Bantry Bay has Clifton, Camps Bay and Glen Beach as its neighbours, all of which are prized for their privacy, shelter and safe waters where you can slip off the rocks into the sea or pack a picnic and watch the sun go down. Sea Point promenade is also a short walk away with its dog walkers, fitness fanatics and mums pushing baby strollers. The V & A Waterfront an all-in-one experience, beautiful Table Mountain, markets for African art, craft and organic produce and guided walking tours of areas and cultures that survived the Apartheid regime, are all a short shuttle drive away. A chic, symmetrical and innovative design of clean lines, double volume walls, curved ceilings at different heights, free standing furniture, square and rectangular shapes, no enclosed walls, windows with extra height, glass walls enveloping the back of the house and efficient use of space and luxury, all create a constant flow where everything is simple and relaxing, a home for living in and enjoying. The large living area is the heart of the home with a kitchen to the left of the entrance, a dining area ahead to the left and a living room to the right. Glass doors run the entire width of the walls opening up on to a tiled terrace from the dining area and a wooden deck from the living room. The floors, walls and ceilings are all the same colour as a backdrop with added colours and textures at every angle. The minimalistic and effortless functionality of the living room comprises a perfectly placed red L shaped sofa and a light grey, comfortable art deco style leather chair. The floor has a large, polished dark wood square inset with an apricot coloured rug, these rich colours are enhanced in the night light. A dark wood large and raised coffee table is positioned in the centre matching the rooms long wardrobes and polished wood and frosted glass fitted television cabinet, including satellite, DVD and a music centre. A contemporary chrome and grey granite fireplace is a nice feature in the centre of the living and dining space. There is also a cinema room. The dining area is perfect for long dinners or lunches with a large rectangular table complete with eight dark wood chairs upholstered in apricot coloured suede and a bright oil canvas painting blending in with the living room. Glass sliding doors to the left of the dining room open up on to a vast tiled terrace only a few metres from the waves with modern chrome stilts supporting a roof that covers half of the terrace, a wooden table and eight matching chairs and fitted spotlights overhead for sitting around at night. The sliding doors at the back lead on to a wooden balcony with spectacular views right across the ocean. A fully equipped, contemporary and open plan kitchen has glass sliding windows that open up completely to the outdoors creating a feeling of limitless space while preparing a delicious simple fare. A central work island is multipurpose with a granite top for serving food and storage space below, wooden sliding door cabinetry with chrome handles, wicker shelf space and an American style fridge and freezer. |
